About 4Bs Design
Hi there! Thanks for finding me. I hope this blogs helps you find something inspirational.
I love design and decor...everything about it. This blog is all about everything inspirational and motivational. It will contain all that I wish I could do, what I'm planning on doing, and what motivates me to do more. Design to me ranges from interior design, graphic design, packaging, and even crafting.
I am not a graphic designer or an interior designer and I do not sell art. But I do love the idea of pulling ideas together - whether it's a space in my home, a birthday party for my children, graphic design for work or for invitations, cards, etc, or just a craft project I've had in mind.
I grew up competing on the ice - I was a competitive figure skater and loved it. It was all the glitz and glam you'd expect from what you see on TV but also a lot of very early mornings, hard work, sore muscles, humility, and most importantly perseverance - all traits learned growing up and all traits that I'm so thankful I've learned.
I am a molecular biologist with an MBA. Go figure! I've learned over the years that working with my imagination or creating something in my home or with my hands helps alleviate stress! It's an outlet for me much like working out or yoga (both of which I also like to do with my free time). I lead a double life of sorts - by day, a marketing communications manager for a biotech/pharmaceutical company (with a well coordinated/outfitted cubicle space), and by night, a design junkie (sometimes hooked on Pinterest into the wee hours of the morning.
Oh and back in the days when I was in college I worked for Nordstrom! I liked to say then that it was good money (I was in ladies shoes which provided 10% commission) but a huge chunk of my paycheck would go right back to Nordstrom due to the irresistible employee discount. Needless to say, Nordstrom taught me a lot about customer service, patience, working with different personalities, the art of retail display, and FASHION.
For college, I got my bachelor's in science biology from St. Mary's College (SMC) of California in Moraga, California - a great liberal arts college, then went to Pacific College in Stockton, California for my Master's in molecular biology. I was a scientist "working on the bench" for about 3 years until I decided that I wanted to get into marketing. So I went back to my first Alma mater - SMC for my MBA. I've been with the same Biotech/Pharma company for 13 years now (something unheard of among the 30-somethings).
Hopefully, I can help keep my motivation and find inspiration and share my finds with you. Maybe you'll find your own inspiration and find cool things!
