I have a confession to make - I'm obsessed with blue. And even more obsessed with blue and white.
All throughout my home I have various shades of blue - royal blue, cobalt, aqua...you get the idea. There's a very elegant look and feel to a nice clean arrangement of blue and white chinoiserie.
One great source for inspiration for blue and white is The Enchanted Home. You can see a lot of her images in the photo left and her website has a great shop too.
I'm currently working on adding some greenery to my home and finding just the right planter has been a challenge to say the least. I have some good spots in the house to add some real statement plants - Fiddle Leaf Fig trees are just one of my favorites right now.

Here's one of my Fiddle Leafs doing well in a nicely lit corner. I want more of these but finding the right spot in the house and then the right planter has been a hunt for sure.
One great ceramic brand that is always a nice choice is Vietri. "VIETRI is the largest American importer of handcrafted Italian tableware and home décor products, working with multiple family-owned and operated factories throughout Italy. A leader in craftsmanship, design, and customer service, the VIETRI brand both complements the American lifestyle and celebrates all that is irresistibly Italian".
There's a great little shop close to where I live, Misto Lino, that carries Vietri. It's not always blue and white but they have some amazing coordinating pieces that would work magically with blue and white. It's a bit on the pricy side but it is well worth it when you look at the finish and craftsmanship of each piece.

The other piece I'm looking for is a great low orchid planter for my dining room. Check out this image I found on good'ol Pinterest. When I find something similar to this piece I will buy it in a flash. Another great option is Juliska. "Juliska is not about trends; it’s about loving life and living well". They have a number of wonderful glass and ceramic pieces even in blue and white. Just this past Christmas Santa brought me a great bowl that I've added to my new, and in progress, dining room (thanks Mom). Here's my Julska (left image) accented my dreamy Lori Koprowski oil painting. I need to search a bit more to properly style that dining room console but I'm really liking how it is coming thus far. |
My current project is our master bedroom. It's our modern interpretation of a hawaiian room and it's ... ahh blue and white!
The inspiration ... a blue and white Hawaiian quilt we purchased nearly 5 years ago in a cute authentic shop at the Whalers Village on Maui appropriately called Totally Hawaiian Gifts.
I've been working on pulling our master bedroom together since last October 2014. It's nearly completed and I'm hoping for a finalized room by Valentine's Day.
Our bedroom set is from Lexington from the Tommy Bahama Royal Kahala Collection. I don't have a picture of my bedroom just yet but as soon as it is completed I'll share it with all of you so stay tuned.
