This week I'd like to feature one of my all time favorite artists - Lori Koprowski.. It was 8 years ago when I first spotted one of Lori's pieces featured at the Four Season's - Wailea, Maui. Her pieces are dynamic and certainly memorable. Interestingly enough, the Four Season's at Wailea has a great program where they showcase different artists from Maui and some visiting artists. If you are ever visiting Maui, Wailea I'd highly recommend just walking around the Four Seasons for the great art collection at the hotel This was really my first experience meeting Lori and talking to her about her beautiful paintings and her inspiration.
I was just last year this time when I finally welcomed our first Lori Koprowski painting into our home. It brings so much joy to the room. And honestly, whenever we have guest over or are entertaining it's always Lori's painting that becomes the interesting topic of discussion. I'm so thankful I was able to work with her and commission this piece for our dining room. Couldn't have asked for a better experience.
Lori's original oil paintings depict the female form with a mix of representation and abstraction at times interlocking shapes and form. I happen to love her series with butterflies and the circle and xo symbolism (hugs and kisses, yoga balls, landscapes and the female anatomy). Lori said, "You may not always see the female form however its influence and every day life in the islands has allowed me to create this composition".
She paints with oil paint, oil sticks, brushes and her fingers on canvas, wood, and paper.
"Art is about adventure and risk
which only add to my development
no matter where that may be".
I could post hundreds of her paintings that I love. I'm restraining myself and provide a glimpse of some of my favorite. But really do check out her website - she is really amazing! Enjoy!
