Christmas time inspirations
I just got back from taking my kids to Disneyland for Halloween...and what was the first thing that came into my mind and I returned to my Halloween decorated home...'hmmm what should I do for the holiday decorating this year?'
I know, I know, I know what you're thinking. It's way too early. it might be for putting up the decorations but not for organizing your inspirations, collectibles, and purchasing new pieces.
Last year, we decided that our old Christmas tree needed to be retired. So this year I really want to go with a flocked or snowy/icicle type of tree. I've been looking around for some inspiring images. Here are some of my favorites.

Last year, we decided that our old Christmas tree needed to be retired. So this year I really want to go with a flocked or snowy/icicle type of tree. I've been looking around for some inspiring images. Here are some of my favorites.
Flocked Aqua Tree
This tree would be great in my family room which has a color scheme of aqua and coral. I love the flocked color and how it not really a super green tree. The mixture in texture with the ornaments is great and the added metallic bling dresses the tree up nicely.
Snowy "Tundra" Christmas Tree
I love the feathery garland that is included in this snowy "tundra" tree. It adds an unexpected touch of elegance that is not normally thought of and brings some softness to the snowy nature. Lucy from Craftberry Bush on Unskinnyboppy.com does a good job demonstrating how she decorated her home for the holidays and she did an amazing job.
Old Fashioned Tinsel Tree
This little gem would be great in the dining room or in a tight space. It's so great with the urn and tray and color scheme. I need to find a nice little home for something like this. But it is so hard to find a nice tinsel tree these days. Any ideas or clues on where to find one?
This tinsel tree is from Martha Stewart - of course. It's amazing! I would not do the for my house but it is outstanding in it's execution. Would be great in an entryway or foyer. I can also imagine it as part of my staircase landings to go along with some garlands on the staircase railing. I love the tinsel finish - it almost looks like little silver fireworks. The tray below with the little woodland creatures add a nice rustic touch to offset all the glitz and glam of the silver tinsel.
Metallic Tree
If you're going for neutral and elegant this tree is amazing. The varying metallic colors and a nice monochromatic touch of elegance to any room yet it comes with a calm serene presence. If you have one color in your room it can easily be added to this tree to add a bit of color and coordinate with your other accessories.
Don't forget the Fireplace
I have some garland on my fireplace along with 6 hanging cream quilted stockings. But I love these glass containers with ornaments to bring in the colors of my family room and the metallic tree to add some nice height.
Dining Room Centerpiece
How easy and cute would this be as a nice center piece in the dining room or eating area table. If you have company over and some snacks to put out this would be a great little decoration to dress up any table. It's probably safe to say you can go out into your backyard and do some tree trimming and voila you have a nice centerpiece. Maybe you could even add a bit more glitz to your branches with a touch of metallic spray paint and some glitter....just an idea.
Overall Christmas Cheer
This room is pretty close to what I'm inspiring to achieve in my family room. The flocked aqua Christmas tree, cream stockings I have already, I have a silver ornament jingle bell wreath I can hang above my fireplace, garland and the glass containers with ornaments, and the little subtle touches of holiday cheer in the room.
Hope thoughts of Christmas decorating are starting to inspire your holiday cheer. I'll be decorating the week of Thanksgiving and will share the outcome with you. Enjoy!
